YETI Coolers Trademark Applications on Web3 

In recent NFT-related news, Yeti Coolers LLC submitted 45 trademark applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office relating to non-fungible tokens (NFTs), cryptocurrencies, and the metaverse. 


Yeti has registered trademarks for its slogan “Built for the wild” and eight other brands. 

Mike Kondoudis, an attorney specializing in trademark applications, disclosed in a series of tweets that Yeti was not the only organization to submit trademark applications with the USPTO in June. 

Although Yeti has not stated its exact intentions should its trademark applications be allowed, it is evident that, like many other firms, it is aware of the potential of Web3 and the metaverse to create new sales channels in virtual places.

Web3 Trademark Application Filings Are Underway 

Cryptocurrency has recently been crushed on the market, but this does not seem to be deterring firms and institutions from investing in Web3. Between January and May of 2022, the USPTO received over 2,600 trademark applications for digital assets or cryptocurrencies and associated services, according to Kondoudis. 

Because NFTs enable digital assets to be bought, sold, and traded, and the metaverse enables users to have experiences, shop, attend live events, and interact with friends via digital avatars, there are a plethora of opportunities for brands, companies, and celebrities to reach customers and fans in novel and engaging ways.

And as crypto’s decline made national news, trademark applications in the Web3 domain continued to be discreetly submitted, indicating that proponents of Web3 and the metaverse are working on future preparation. 

In the near future, users may be able to eat a virtual Snickers bar kept cold in a virtual Yeti cooler while listening to Snoop Dogg’s newest NFT album in the metaverse.
