The “once you pop, you cannot stop” the chips-maker company Pringles is stepping into the metaverse. Apparently, Pringles is paying a gamer $25,000 to play an NPC or non-player character in Train Sim World 2. The winner will come from sweepstakes, and Pringles picked them up on July 11.
The investment in Train Sim World 2 is Pringle’s initial intention to capitalize on the buildup of the metaverse. The shared social space that is created for VR and AR. The metaverse usually expands to games that feature characters that move willingly, like Decentraland and The Sandbox.
The sweepstakes are part of a bigger “Stay in the Game” marketing campaign which merges the chip-maker with Gray London, an advertising agency. The campaign pursues to honor gamers dating back to the 1980s. As conveyed by the “Stay in the Game” website, the “heart” of the gaming movement is a “Pringlesonic chip,” an 8-bit iteration of a potato chip made through binary sound.
There is no actual news yet on what role the gamer will play in Train Sim World 2 when they win the sweepstakes. It is worth telling that the game contains players operating some of the most complicated train routes in the world. The $25,000 does not look like a small amount to play as an NPC, and this is certainly one of the most intriguing open metaverse positions.
Not only Pringles, but other companies are also hiring for the metaverse
Since Mark Zuckerberg altered Facebook’s name to Meta, there has been a lot of appeal in the Metaverse. Big companies ranging from sports to clothing have been trying to figure out how to explore this emerging technology. Below are two examples of companies that hired for the metaverse, spanning the extent of the industry.
Firstly, Hulu six months ago, posted a job opening for a “cultural trend marketing manager” who would help the company take off into domains outside of streaming. Two of these domains were NFTs and the metaverse. Part of the motivation for the hire was to transform the way the younger demographic consumes content.
In the second instance, there is Siempre Tequila. The company made a weird hire for its spokesperson 3 months ago, choosing Bored Ape #5132 as its “Spokesape”. Under the deal, Siempre Tequila will utilize Ape in advertising and has already begun developing a backstory for the NFT. The Ape, named “Chido”, is presently a “small-town Ape from Mexico”.
