NFT tickets: Binance teams up with Italian Football Club S.S. Lazio for the 2022-2023 season

Binance teams up with Società Sportiva Lazio to venture NFT tickets for all of the Football club’s home matches at Stadio Olimpico. The initiative comes in following the mess caused by counterfeit tickets in the UEFA Champions League 2022, crypto exchange Binance has pitched the pilot of its NFT ticketing solution with Italian football club Società Sportiva Lazio for the 2022 to 2023 season.

In the announcement, Binance emphasized that NFT tickets will solve the issue of fake tickets and eliminate scalping, preventing disorder in sporting events. Apart from access to events, the NFT tickets will also help in other purposes such as store and match discounts, NFT token giveaways, and other experiences with S. S. Lazio.

With the partnership, NFT tickets will be available for all of S. S. Lazio’s home matches in the upcoming season. Marco Canigiani, an executive at S. S. Lazio, communicated that current ticket holders will be able to claim their NFT tickets for free and can easily use them to enter Stadio Olimpico and also capitalize on the perks that come with those digital tickets.

Binance executive Zoe Wei stated that the launch of NFT ticketing showcases a different method to use NFTs and highlights a powerful use case for Web3 technology. Wei also pointed out that blockchain-based tickets have the potential to ultimately expand from sports to the more expansive entertainment industry.

Why NFT Tickets?

On May 28, UEFA blamed thousands of counterfeit tickets for the confusion that happened in the Champions League final in Paris. The event spotlighted a problem with traditional ticketing systems, provoking comments from Web3 experts on how blockchain-based ticketing can deliver a solution.

This incident has led various organizations to consider NFT Tickets as the solution, it will be interesting to see how Binance and Lazio handle this new procedure.
