JPMorgan filed for the trademark to offer crypto

JPMorgan recently filed for trademarks for its crypto wallet. It has officially registered and patented the – J.P. Morgan Wallet under the United States Patent and Trademark Office i.e. USPTO. This new trademark filing enables the bank to offer Bitcoin and Crypto to its existing clients.

JP Morgan

USPTO trademark attorney Mike Kondoudis shares the details of the filed trademark. Here are the details:

The document indicates information that JPMorgan will deliver services relating to cryptocurrency transfers on the blockchain, cryptocurrency exchange services, and cryptocurrency payment processing services which contain processing crypto payments using credit and cash cards; processing cross-border payments by controlling foreign exchange payments in different currencies across several borders, and services that entangle the creation and managing of virtual checking accounts.

The trademark approval came in on November 15, 2022, and it was only published on 21 November. According to details from Justia, an American website that specializes in legal information retrieval, JPMorgan Chase filed for the trademark in July 2020 with the serial 90071872.

Regardless of CEO Jamie Dimon being hostile towards crypto, the bank has been researching crypto & blockchain for a while now. JPMorgan has joined the likes of Fidelity Bank and New York Bank Mellon in presenting crypto-related services such as payments and exchanges, as well as other legacy financial organizations.

The move is surprising considering the philosophy of the bank and its approach towards this market, and it raises a few eyebrows as well as it comes at a time when the crypto world is in an utter mess following the FTX collapse.
