NFTs from some of the most prevalent blockchain networks for crypto art. It is now coming to Instagram with the notification of a pilot as soon as Monday.
The social media powerhouse owned by Meta is intending NFT token integrations for Ethereum, Solana, Polygon, and Flow. According to reports, Those networks host the majority of trading in digital collectibles. Here, Ethereum and its Bored Apes are leading their way up in market cap.
The pilot will feature a small group of NFT enthusiasts based in the U.S. It wasn’t instantly clear whether Instagram would support NFTs from all four chains at launch.
The plan is to sustain widely utilized crypto wallets such as MetaMask. Stuffing in their wallets, users will be able to confirm NFT ownership and showcase them on their profiles, and tag the creators who made them.
Unlike Twitter which charged users hexagonal NFT profile pictures in January, Instagram will not charge users for posting and sharing NFTs on their platform.
The decision probably spells a thrill of new cultural visibility for NFTs. There are over 1 billion active users on Instagram; many of whom use the platform to promote and market their artwork.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg hinted at the initiative in March without revealing many details.
As reported in past, Meta would follow up its NFT pilot on Instagram with minting and group membership options on Facebook.
