Indy 500 Introduces NFT Sale on Autograph

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway collaborated with Tom Brady’s Autograph.io to offer three NFT sets for the Indy 500 event in 2022. Those who don’t have an IRL Indy 500 ticket will be unable to access the third NFT drop.

To commemorate the 2022 Indianapolis 500, Autograph.io launched a “Commemorative Race Day NFT” on May 19th for everyone who had a seat at the race in 2022. In addition, the IMS claims that these NFTs will include “added material,” although it hasn’t provided any more specifics.

One of the 33 drivers competing in the Indy 500 in 2022 is featured in the IMS’ “Mystery Driver Container” NFT collection, which went live on May 23rd. One thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine NFTs are included in the “Mystery Driver” package.

There will be an official race memento for anybody with a “Mystery Driver” NFT at the start of the Indianapolis 500. According to the IMS, a piece of carbon fibre from the associated driver will be sent to each NFT holder after May 29th’s Indy 500 airs.

To round things up, on May 27th, Team Penske unveiled a limited-edition NFT with their famed 1972 Indy 500 race vehicle. This 3D NFT commemorates Mark Donohue’s stunning victory at the Indy 500, which occurred 50 years ago. Team Penske’s “Celebrating 50 Years” NFT was appropriately limited to 50 copies.

The DraftKings NFT Marketplace is where you can buy an Indy 500 “Mystery Driver” or a Team Penske NFT. Collectors may access these NFTs on the Autograph platform after buying them from DraftKings.

The popularity of commemorative NFT Tickets Is on the Rise

At major athletic events in 2022, digital memorabilia have grown more popular. A few leagues seem to be putting their toes in the NFT waters with the introduction of digital commemorative tickets.

Sports organizations may argue that these NFT tickets allow them to experiment with Web3 technology while assessing their supporters’ reactions. This might help bring more sports enthusiasts into the NFT ecosystem by giving free tickets.
