Football Club AC Milan Signs Multi-year Partnership with Sorare amid Web3 expansion

Yesterday, AC Milan and fantasy football gaming platform, Sorare, informed an exclusive multi-year partnership as the football club looks to expand its Web3 strategy.

With this new deal, AC Milan officially enters Sorare’s NFT-based fantasy football game while Sorare joins Rossoneri’s roster of Premium Partners. Leveraging blockchain technology and NFTs, the platform enables football fans to own and trade digital collectibles of their respective favorite football clubs.

This 2022-23 footballing season, AC Milan fans can collect, trade, and play with the football club’s officially authorized digital cards on Sorare as part of an immersive worldwide gaming experience.

With more than two million registered users on Sorare, the collaboration gives AC Milan access to a new fan engagement tool and also creates a new revenue stream through NFT licensing in the sports game classification for the football club.

Casper Stylsvig, Chief Revenue Officer of AC Milan mentions that they are delighted to welcome Sorare into our exclusive family of Premium Partners. The officer also adds that this is the beginning of a new journey with an exciting and young brand that is at the forefront of the NFT revolution and has been able to merge digital collectibles and fantasy sports.

The partnership is a new development in AC Milan’s broader Web3 strategy and a further movement into the NFT space. The football club formerly kicked off its first NFT project in April with a limited-edition 3D NFT of a Rossoneri jersey from South Sudan put on sale for charity. Back in May, a match between AC Milan and Fiorentina was broadcast live in the metaverse as the football club made its move to adopt the Web3 technology. It was the first-ever Football league match to be aired in the metaverse.

Further Stylsvig remarks that as an innovative Club, this is a sector that they are exploring with a clear strategy in mind, with the goal to offer over 500 million fans across the globe a compelling way to engage with their Football Club and that is why they are pleased to partner with Sorare and introduce their digital collectibles to our fanbase.

Sorare has teamed up with over 260 sports organizations since it was founded. The platform combines NFTs and sports games to build fan engagement between sports organizations and their supporters.

Michael Meltzer, Head of Business Development of Sorare expresses that they are building a gaming experience driven by passion where fans can connect with football and a global community. On Sorare, they can truly acknowledge the game and they are proud to partner with the legendary AC Milan to assist them to connect with fans globally through the future of football collectibles.

Besides AC Milan, Sorare also recently entered a multi-year partnership with the Argentinian Football Association. And as NFTHi reported last month, French football star Kylian Mbappé became an ambassador in Sorare.
