This summer, Disney Springs will be home to a brand-new virtual reality experience for Star Wars fans. The Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge pre-show in Orlando, Florida, is a collaboration between Meta Quest, ILMxLAB, and Disney Parks.
Once you’ve put on the Meta Quest 2 headset, the real fun can begin. Before you arrive at Batuu’s Black Spire Outpost, you’ll get a birds-eye perspective of the galaxy far, far away. In this “action-adventure” VR narrative, you’ll take on a few different roles as you go through the plot.
A Meta Quest 2 headset can be purchased on-site for those who complete the VR experience. You can get an exclusive poster of the Guavian Death Gang on May 4th if you come to the event.
To begin with, visitors to Disney Springs West will be able to experience the Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge virtual reality story only between the hours of 12:00 noon and 10:00 pm on weekdays. It begins on May 2nd and ends on July 21st, 2015. Users must be at least 13 years of age or older to engage in the virtual reality experience.
In a blog post publicizing the event, Oculus Quest said that this is not the first time Meta and Disney have collaborated. In November of 2021, the Downtown Disney District was the site of the first — yet another VR experience.

Disneyland and Meta Stay Optimistic on Web3
Last year, Mark Zuckerberg sparked controversy by rebranding Facebook as Meta. As a result of his decision, the metaverse became a hot topic among rivals and customers alike.
There has been an increase in interest in Web3-related topics since then. Meta has been really busy lately, even before this Disney deal was announced. Horizon Worlds just hit the 300,000 user mark in their metaverse. The business has also established its first brick-and-mortar location to demonstrate its metaverse technology.
Disney has also made some statements about its Web3 plans. The company’s “virtual world simulator” was authorized by the US Patents and Trademarks office a few months ago. The notion was that Disney wants to introduce the metaverse to its resorts, despite the statement being unclear. Additionally, a position for an NFT specialist has been posted on the company’s website, fueling speculation that Disney may join the non-fungible token market.
No matter how the relationship between Disney, ILMxLAB, and Meta goes, the metaverse and its technologies are gaining momentum.
