Atletico de Madrid reveals NFT Sneakers with STEPN

STEPN, a Web3 Lifestyle Move-to-earn App, based on Solana, declared a collaboration with Spanish football club Atlético de Madrid and crypto exchange WhaleFin. The move-to-earn fitness app is set to launch a collection of football boots i.e. sneakers in NFT format on its mobile application.

Within its run-to-earn game app, STEPN retains GameFi and SocialFi parameters. It is consistent with the NFT sneakers.

This collection will comprise 1,001 Atlético Madrid’s NFT shoes. The NFT shoe owners will be eligible to win autographed club merchandise, enter a draw for an exclusive experience of a trip and hotel nights, as well tickets to see the team play live at the Cívitas Metropolitano and WhaleFin airdrops.

Each of the 1,001 NFTs are digitally hand-drawn football boots. Further, these are classified into one of three categories: Common, Uncommon, and Rare. The 850 Common boots are based on the club’s national & international titles. The 140 Uncommon boots are based on the stadiums, and the 11 Rare boots are based on the team’s starting lineup.

All 1,001 boots are actually of the “Genesis” variety. This means they provide buyers with exclusive perks through the STEPN app.

Íñigo Aznar, Chief Commercial Officer at Atlético de Madrid, expressed, that this strategic alliance with WhaleFin opens a new world of possibilities for the club and the fans worldwide. The officer adds that they are exploring new ways to relate with their fan base and communities like STEPN allow them to discover creative possibilities offered by Web3.

In the first edition of this co-branded Genesis sneakers collection, 200 shoes will be unleashed. WhaleFin will distribute 180 of these first boots. In addition, these 180 boots will include 160 Common sneakers, 19 Uncommon sneakers, and an exclusive pair of Rare sneakers.

STEPN will devour the remaining 20 sneakers in order to raffle them off as community rewards to its dedicated users. The partnership is significant because 10% of the profits from the club’s sales of the sneakers will go to the Atlético de Madrid Foundation to fund International Schools.

Mable Jiang, Chief Revenue Officer of STEPN, remarked that by this collaboration, they aim to connect the world of physical activity with the Web3 space by delivering tangible rewards in the real world. The launch of this collection is a pivotal step in their journey to show the value of collecting and the usefulness of NFTs and they see a great prospect in helping partners connect with their communities through their products.
